What do we believe?
The Godhead
Jesus Christ
We believe in the one ever-living eternal God: infinite in Power, holy in nature, attributes and purpose; and possessing absolute, indivisible deity. This One True God has revealed Himself to mankind as Father in creation, through His Son, in redemption; and as the Holy Spirit in regeneration (Cor 8:6; Eph 4:6; Cor 5: 19; Joel 2:28). The scripture does not argue the existence or God; it asserts, assumes and declares that the knowledge or God is universal (Rom. 19, 21, 28, 32 2:15). God is invisible, incorporeal, without parts, without body and therefore free from all limitations. He is a Spirit (John 4:24) and "a spirit bath not flesh and bones (Luke 24:39) Deut 6:4; Mark 12:29; Eph. 4:6)
We believe the Holy Scriptures or the Old and New Testaments to be the verbally and plenary inspired Word of God. The Scriptures are inerrant, infallible, and God-breathed, and therefore are the final authority for faith and life. The sixty-six books of the Old and New Testaments are the complete and divine revelation of God to Man. The Scriptures shall bc interpreted according to their normal grammatical-historical meaning. The King James Version of the Bible is the official translation used by the church. (Tim. 3:16-17; 2 Pet. 1:20-21)
In the shifting seasons of time, Greater Refuge remains steadfast and immovable when it comes to the core beliefs of Christianity: the Holiness and Sovereignty of God, the depravity of man through the deception of Satan, the Deity of Jesus Christ and Christ's redemption of the world by His sacrificial life, death and resurrection. With these core truths, the rest of the story unfolds every day....
The Holy Scriptures
We believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. A very Perfect man and the very God who was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born or the Virgin Mary, in order that Ile might reveal God and redeem sinful men (Isa. 1:14; 9:6; Luke 1:35; John 1:1-2, 14; Cor. 5:19-21; Gal. 4:4-5; Philippians 2:5-8; 'Tim 3:16; John 1:11; 'Tim. 2:5). We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ accomplished our redemption through His death on the cross as a representative, vicarious, intermediary sacrifice; and that our justification is made sure by His literal, physical resurrection from the dead.(Acts 2:18-36; Rom.3:24-2S; 'Peter 2:24; Eph. 1:7; 'Peter 1:3-5). We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ ascended to Heaven, and is now exalted at the right hand of God where, as our high Priest, He fulfills the Ministry or representative, Intercessor, and Advocate. (Acts 1:9-10; Heb. 9:24; 7:25; Rom 8:34; John 2:1-2)
